Congratulations! You have just opened the door to the most innovative and exciting learning technology to come along since the personal computer.  

We suggest the following steps when using WiseNode™ for the first time.

  1. Obtain your login credentials from the system administrator.
  2. Make sure you have the latest version of the Microsoft Internet Explorer and the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine installed on your computer.  For optimal performance you may pre-install PlaNet Manager components.  If you don't pre-install these components they will be installed as you need them.
  3. Proceed to the Login Screen.  
  4. After you login you may select any of the available user interfaces.  The current selections will depend on the login name you use and include Learner, Coach, and Manager.  Your privilege level is set by the system administrator. 
  5. Once you have arrived at your desktop, simply select the function you wish to access.  The system is organized into feature areas for Assignments, Enrollment, Email, and Tools.  You will be presented with a consistent navigation bar to aid your exploration.  You may click on the help icon at any time for guidance.

What is WiseNode™

This system uses PlaNet Software's internet instructional management system, PlaNet Manager™ as the CORE system.  PlaNet Manager™ introduces an entirely new way of managing instruction using web technology.  The system allows computer based curriculum and assessment applications to be delivered and managed over LAN's, WAN's or the Internet using the very latest browser technology.

The system is an open, scalable, and customizable learning system designed to deliver computer-based lessons to learners anywhere they access the Internet, at any time. The system allows coaches to create on-line lesson plans that are automatically delivered to learners each time they access the course deployment web server. All progress, relevant time-on-task, and score information is tracked and recorded by the system. The system offers a rich reporting environment for coaches and administrators to help them analyze learner progress and facilitate continuous learning improvement.

ICUS modified the Planet Manager according to its philosophy and requirements. Besides changing the CORE system, ICUS has added additional components such as the Annotation, My Opinion and Quiz Engine. Other components will be added later, unleashing Planet Manager™'s open architecture.

How can you do that?

WiseNode™ is built with reusable, replaceable software components written in Java and ActiveX. WiseNode™ was designed to allow learners to access the system from home, a public library, or any other place with an Internet connection, as well as from work. 

The system uses the power of Microsoft Windows NT Server, Internet Information Server, and MS SQL Server as it's foundation.  We have built upon that foundation a sophisticated, redistributable Web Site using Active Server Pages, HTML, Java Server Components, COM, RDS, and ISAPI resulting in an open, highly scalable system based on industry standards.
